WHAT IS BAKEWELL COUNTRY FESTIVAL?

Bakewell Country Festival is run by Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society and it takes place on a Sunday in July. In 2024 this will be Sunday 14th July.

This exciting family day out combines an exciting mix of traditional agricultural elements with family activities, entertainment, food, drink, shopping and more.

PRESIDENT'S INTRODUCTION

Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society President for 2024 and 2025 - Martin Ambrey

As a local lad being born and raised in Stanton in the Peak, Bakewell was always a big part of my life.

My Grandfather farmed Redway farm at Pilsley on the Chatsworth Estate and I followed as a farm labourer after leaving Lady Manners school at Bakewell.

An almost thirty year career then followed as an Estate worker for the Peak District National Park, before going self employed as an Agricultural Engineer.

An affection for vintage tractors and machinery led me to participate in the first Bakewell Country Festival, and it was an honour to be elected as the new President for the next two years.

I am looking forward to working with the other members, meeting people at society events, and of course reprising my role as vintage tractor and engine steward at this year's event.
