WHAT IS BAKEWELL COUNTRY FESTIVAL?

 

Bakewell Country Festival is run by Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society and it takes place on a Sunday in July. In 2024 this will be Sunday 14th July.

This exciting family day out combines an exciting mix of traditional agricultural elements with family activities, entertainment, food, drink, shopping and more.

Greetings and a very Warm Welcome to the Country Festival.

It is a great honour for me to be President of the Society this year and to witness and share in the hard work and preparation that is going into to create and deliver the Festival for you to enjoy and share in, and hopefully find great enjoyment in doing so.

We are all going to be blessed by the great skills, knowledge and experience of people displaying their talents on the Showground to help us appreciate Farming, Food, Country Crafts, Music, and people’s interests and desire to share their love of what they do, and their passion for it.

There will be something for all ages to enjoy and interact with and the comments from the Festival last year were very positive and I know many people are looking forward to the Festival this year.

Amidst the concerns we have about a few things in the world at the moment, and the cost of living within out own country, we look forward to, and need things that can give us a lift and also can help us to appreciate those who make important contributions to our lives and well-being. The Festival celebrates some of those things and people amidst this beautiful part of the Peak District and the history and culture of Bakewell.

I would like as President to offer a word of thanks and appreciation to everybody who is participating in the Festival, and for the coordination and work of Bridget and Adelle in the Festival Office.

We look forward very much to offering you and those you may bring with you a very warm welcome and look out for me wearing my chain!
