Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society President 2022 - Mr Steve Flewitt

I feel very privileged to be President of Bakewell Country Festival for 2022 and also happy to be continuing a family association with Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society.

My father, a member of the society,  was a farmer and a breeder of shire horses in the days when they were used regularly to farm the land. He also showed his animals at Bakewell and other local shows and would have been delighted and proud to have  known that 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation family members  were involved in this year’s Festival.

Although we have a different format this year from previous Bakewell Agricultural Shows, the aim is to continue the traditional demonstration of all that is good about British farming and the excellence of its products and produce.

This year will also draw attention to the fact that the farmer of today, whilst continuing to supply produce of excellent quality, is also conscious of a responsibility of care towards the environment which is his work place and acknowledges this by using methods which do no harm but protect and sustain the infrastructure of the countryside.

We hope this years Festival will attract many visitors who will find it an  interesting and enjoyable experience.
